ROLE - Mechanical Design Engineer (Junior, Senior, Principal)
TERM - Permanent
LOCATION - West Midlands
SALARY - £40,000 - £80,000 (dependent on experience)
Overview:
My client is a specialist manufacturing business working across multiple sectors based in the West Midlands. Due to current expansion and multiple upcoming projects they are looking to take on numerous Mechanical Design Engineers to join the team on a permanent basis. The successful candidates will be responsible for developing mechanical designs, producing detailed drawings and supporting the manufacturing and engineering teams.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- Previous experience in a mechanical design/engineering role
- Strong general mechanical design experience within a manufacturing environment
- Proficient with 2D/3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor or similar
- Experience producing detailed engineering drawings and 3D models
- Good understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards
- Experience or understanding of FEA and design analysis
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and design for manufacture
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and customer requirements
- Experience designing components, assemblies and mechanical systems
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
- Producing detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models
- Designing and developing mechanical components, assemblies and products
- Applying GD&T and relevant engineering standards
- Carrying out or supporting FEA and design analysis where required
- Working closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are suitable for manufacture
- Modifying and improving existing designs
- Supporting new product development and engineering projects
- Preparing technical documentation and specifications
- Working with engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues
- Ensuring designs meet customer, quality and manufacturing requirements

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday with opportunities for hybrid work.
