Mechanical Design Engineer
West Lothian | Hybrid (3 Days On-Site)
iO Associates are partnered with an innovative technology company in West Lothian that is looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer to its growing team.
This is a hands-on engineering role offering the opportunity to take ownership of the mechanical aspects of projects, supporting products from initial concept and CAD design through prototyping, testing, manufacture, and deployment. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you'll combine mechanical design with practical engineering activities including prototype assembly, testing, ERP/BOM management, and field deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical aspects of development projects from concept through to delivery.
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and enclosures using SolidWorks.
- Create manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.
- Support prototype assembly, testing, and validation activities.
- Manage BOMs and engineering data through PDM/ERP systems.
- Support supply chain activities, including purchase orders and ERP management.
- Assist with product testing, field trials, and deployment activities.

Required Experience
- Experience in Mechanical Design Engineering.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
- Experience taking products from concept through to manufacture.
- Hands-on prototyping, assembly, or testing experience.
- Knowledge of BOM management and PDM/version control systems.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical deliverables.
- Full UK driving license.
- Subsea, underwater, marine, or offshore product design.
- Pressure vessel design, modeling, and analysis.
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Environmental sealing, potting, or enclosure design is desirable.
- Experience with ERP systems, Jira, or Agile/Scrum methodologies is desirable.
