Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: North Shropshire
Position Type: Permanent
Salary: Competitive depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week
Prince Personnel are delighted to be supporting an established and growing manufacturing business in North Shropshire with the recruitment of a Mechanical Design Engineer. Whether you are a recent graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline and some practical design experience, or an experienced Design Engineer looking for your next challenge, this role offers the opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the design and development of new and bespoke products in line with customer and industry specifications
- Producing and reviewing 3D models, fabrication drawings, and Bills of Materials using CAD software
- Ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborating with manufacturing teams to optimise products for efficient production
- Carrying out engineering calculations and technical assessments
- Developing and maintaining technical documentation, specifications, and data sheets
- Providing technical support throughout manufacturing, inspection, and testing activities
- Assisting the sales team with technical information and quotations
- Liaising directly with customers and suppliers regarding design requirements and project specifications
- Researching market trends and competitor products to support continuous improvement and innovation
- Providing technical advice and guidance on engineering and design matters
- Working with both 2D and 3D CAD packages including AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks

Skills and Experience
- Must have experience with 3D software (AutoCAD/Inventor/SolidWorks)
- Finite Element Analysis exposure/understanding would be advantageous
- Relevant qualification would be ideal but not essential
- Must be within commutable distance - Must drive or have access to own transport
This role would suit a Graduate Design Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Product Design Engineer, Mechanical Designer, or Design Engineer.
