MTrec Technical are proudly representing our prestigious engineering client with the recruitment of a permanent Mechanical Design Engineer to strengthen their current team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is looking to apply their knowledge and skills within an industry-leading employer.

The Job You'll Do
- Interpret client specifications, technical documents, and project requirements to develop robust design solutions.
- Create and develop 3D models and 2D detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks CAD software.
- Produce General Arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Apply principles of mechanical engineering to perform necessary calculations, such as stress analysis, material selection, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and health & safety regulations.
- Liaise closely with the sales team to provide technical support during the tendering process.
- Collaborate with the workshop and production teams to ensure designs are optimised for manufacturability and assembly.
- Assist in the creation of technical documentation, including operating and maintenance manuals.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance and processes.

About You

- HNC, HND, or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a mechanical design role, preferably within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- High proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks is highly preferred) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD).
- A strong understanding of fundamental mechanical principles, materials science, and common manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, welding, fabrication).
- Experience creating detailed engineering drawings to recognised standards and a good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage your own workload and meet project deadlines
