Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services
Location: Birmingham
Type: Full Time
An independent Building Services consultancy in Birmingham is looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team.
Established for many years, this consultancy has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical design solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the UK. Unlike many larger organisations, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with senior engineers and directors, giving you greater exposure to projects, clients and technical decision-making from day one.

The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering mechanical building services designs from initial concept through to completion. You'll work alongside experienced engineers while taking responsibility for your own projects and supporting junior members of the team where appropriate.

Responsibilities
- Produce mechanical building services designs including HVAC, heating, ventilation, public health and cooling systems.
- Prepare calculations, reports, specifications and technical documentation.
- Develop designs in line with current Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.
- Attend client, design and site meetings.
- Coordinate designs with electrical, structural and architectural teams.
- Carry out site surveys and inspections.
- Support project delivery from feasibility through to construction.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Requirements
- Experience within a Building Services consultancy.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Knowledge of mechanical building services design.
- Experience using industry software such as Hevacomp, IES, Revit or AutoCAD would be advantageous.
- Understanding of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence is beneficial.
