The Opportunity
Location: RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall & RAF Feltwell Hours: Full-time, Permanent Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (1-hour unpaid lunch) Salary: £38,000–£42,000 + Company Van & Fuel Card
Join an innovative team delivering critical defence infrastructure services, supporting US Visiting Forces across the UK. This role is an exciting opportunity as a Mechanical Door Engineer, owning scheduled and reactive maintenance tasks autonomously, with occasional support.
About the Role
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will:
- Coordinate maintenance activities, ensuring tasks are completed via a PDA system within deadlines.
- Spearhead servicing, maintenance, and repairs of:
- Automatic doors
- Manual door systems
- Roller shutters and access control equipment
- Diagnose faults, conduct efficient repairs, and ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
- Balance planned preventative maintenance (PPM) with reactive callouts, including on-call duties.
- Work at heights in collaboration with a fabric operative.

While this is a highly autonomous role, prioritising safety means all work at height will involve two-person teams only.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria:
- Industry experience: Proven expertise in industrial or automatic door maintenance, covering PPM and reactive fixes.
- Qualifications: Preference for Level 4 certification in industrial doors or automated gates; strong hands-on candidates will be considered.
- Safety certifications: IPAF (for working at heights) and PASMA [Scaffolding Certification] (for access methods). Knowledge of electrical isolation procedures.
- Technical & professional qualifications: Required ADSA (Automated Doors UK Standards Accreditation) and DHF certification, plus a full UK driving licence.
- Security clearance: Must pass SC Security Vetting.
- Problem-solving mindset: Sharply analytical with strong fault-finding skills and attention to detail.
- Independent working: Must manage workloads proactively while meeting strict service delivery.

Desirable Knowledge & Experience:
- Industry recognition: CSCS card and NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Manufacture (or City & Guilds equivalents).
