Responsibilities

We're looking for a skilled and proactive Mechanical / Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team. You'll play a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability of our manufacturing equipment, facilities, and support systems. Working within a fast-paced production environment, you'll use your electrical and mechanical expertise to minimise downtime, drive continuous improvement, and support a strong culture of safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and plant services.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults efficiently.
- Support production teams by responding quickly to breakdowns and minimising downtime.
- Use the CMMS maintenance system to record work, manage maintenance activities, and improve asset reliability.
- Maintain plant facilities and ancillary services to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Contribute to and support preventative maintenance programmes, helping create a best-in-class maintenance environment.
- Champion safe working practices and ensure compliance with all relevant electrical regulations, including IEEE, BS7671 Wiring Regulations, and Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Support engineering projects, installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency.
- Complete accurate maintenance records, fault reports, and project documentation.
- Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and site teams to achieve business objectives.
- Operate workshop equipment including lathes and milling machines, or be willing to develop these skills.
- Flexibly support the business through overtime and shift coverage when required.

Qualifications
Essential
- Completed a recognised Mechanical/Electrical or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and maintenance documentation.
- Knowledge of engineering regulations and safe working practices.
- Experience using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Passion for continuous improvement and delivering high standards of work.

Desirable
- HNC/ONC or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Maintenance Engineering.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
- Experience with AC and DC drives.
- Basic PLC fault-finding knowledge, particularly Siemens systems.
- Experience with project engineering activities.
- Competence using workshop machinery such as lathes and milling machines to manufacture components and tooling.

Working Pattern
Shift-based role - Days 6am to 6pm continental shifts
Flexibility to work overtime when required
