Overview
You start your day knowing the vehicle in front of you needs careful diagnosis, logical thinking and skilled hands. Nothing is rushed - the priority is getting it right. Whether you’re stripping, refitting, fault-finding or checking systems before handover, your work is trusted because it directly affects safety, quality and the customer’s confidence when they get their car back.
That’s what it means to be a MET Technician at Solus.
The role
As a Mechanical, Electrical & Trim (MET) Technician, you’ll play a vital role in the repair journey, ensuring vehicles are restored to a safe, fully-functioning and high-quality standard following accident damage.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Strip, repair and refit mechanical, electrical and trim components
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs in line with manufacturer methods
- Re-assemble vehicles accurately, ready for paint and final sign-off
- Work closely with Panel, Paint and production colleagues to support repair flow
- Maintain safe, tidy working practices and professional standards
This is a role for people who enjoy problem-solving, variety and responsibility, and who take pride in first-time-right repairs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
