Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the country's largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfill and transforming it into valuable energy resources.

Role Overview

Our new ERF in Tilbury, Essex, is currently under construction and we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of mechanical engineering and maintenance on site
  • Ensure the long-term availability and reliability of the plant
  • Preserve the value of site assets
  • Support the achievement of health and safety, environmental, and financial targets
  • Plan and execute maintenance activities across the ERF plant
  • Manage stores and workshops
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues, helping to develop capability and drive continuous improvement

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Knowledge of mechanical machinery repair methods, materials, and maintenance practices
  • Experience working within Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work processes
  • Experience supervising teams and contractors to deliver agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An appropriate engineering qualification, such as an HNC or equivalent
