About the Role
If you are a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys designing, building and testing precision hardware for the semiconductor industry, why not join us in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, and help design and deliver the mechanical solutions behind advanced precision measurement systems.
We are looking for an ambitious and adaptable Mechanical Engineer to support the design and implementation of mechanical solutions for advanced precision measurement systems. You will be collaborating across systems, R&D, electronics and software teams to deliver robust, reliable mechanical parts and assemblies for cutting edge products. If your passion is designing, building and testing mechanical hardware, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop new mechanical solutions, create new features and improve the performance of existing and new products
- Lead the conceptualisation, design and development of mechanical systems, carrying out hand calculations where required
- Work hands-on with equipment and apparatus to evaluate the performance of your designs
- Feed what you learn into future developments
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists
- Communicate effectively with a diverse set of peers and vendors
Education and Experience
- Degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline or 3 years relevant industry experience
Skills and Experience We're Looking For:
- Proven experience using SolidWorks for 3D CAD, drawings, assemblies and bills of material
- Proficient with SolidWorks PDM, including part and assembly creation, data cards, folder structure and engineering change tasks
- Hands-on engineering development in prototype and production environments
- Experience in assembly and testing of mechanical components
- Works well in a multidisciplinary team, understanding stakeholder needs and turning them into actions
- Develops new solutions independently while aligning with teams and projects
- Documents decisions and developments clearly, from concept through to commercial solution
- Excellent communicator who presents clearly and can write concise reports
- Willing to support colleagues to meet team goals

***You may very occasionally be required to travel globally as part of the role so we ask for 8 months expiry on your passport and no global travel restrictions.
Additional Experience (But Not Essential):
- Finite Element Analysis and/or eigenfrequency simulation
- Designing components for precision motion control or mechatronic systems
- Design experience in scientific instrumentation, semiconductor equipment or metrology systems

Your Recruitment Journey:
We will interview you: Monday to Friday UK Time 9am to 4.30pm and we'll be as flexible as we can with Global Scheduling
1st Stage:
- (45 minute) Remote meeting to evaluate your experience and technical ability
2nd Stage:
- (2.5 hours) Face to face onsite evaluating technical, presentation and communication skills along with your ways of working and your opportunity to know more about us
If you're not comfortable with eye contact, let us know at the start of your interview and if REMOTE, once we've said hello, feel free to turn your camera off until the end.
We dress casually so informal attire is absolutely fine for onsite interviews. We want you to feel comfortable when you meet us and if there's anything else we can do to support your journey, just let us know.
