Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Engineer)
📍 Hatfield, Hertfordshire ⏰ Full-Time | Permanent (On-site)
We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical background to join a busy site engineering team in Hatfield. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining critical building services and plant equipment, ensuring operational reliability and compliance within a controlled environment. You'll be a proactive problem solver with excellent fault-finding abilities and a commitment to high maintenance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a range of mechanical and electrical plant equipment.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimise downtime.
- Monitor and respond to alarms through the Building Management System (BMS).
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with site procedures.
- Support the continuous operation of essential facility systems and infrastructure.
- Participate in the on-call rota and respond to site emergencies when required.

What we're looking for
- Previous experience working within a controlled, regulated or critical environment.
- Hands-on experience with AHUs, compressed air systems and fan coil units.
- Proven experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
- Previous BMS monitoring and alarm response experience.
- Practical welding skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle due to on-call requirements.
Qualifications
- City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent.
- ONC/HNC (Level 3 or Level 4) qualification.
Candidates with significant relevant industry experience may also be considered where qualifications do not fully match the above requirements.
