The Role

For our team in Birchwood Park, Warrington, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer.

The Project

The SNM Value Stream has a key dependency on the Special Nuclear Materials Analytical Project (SNMAP) to provide SNM analytical capability. SNMAP is responsible for the strip out and repurposing of an existing analytical laboratory on the Sellafield site. This includes the integration of new complex analytical equipment into existing nuclear containment, and the installation of new nuclear containments including associated plant and equipment within the existing laboratory.

Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Produce engineering deliverables that provide a fit for purpose integrated solution which meets specified requirements, including validation and verification, and that preserve the engineering intent and align with the plant configuration as appropriate.
  • Deliver a safe fit for purpose, fully integrated, and operable engineering solution that meets product requirements.
  • Support the Responsible Engineer in the definition and execution of product verification activities.
  • Ensure that work complies with all necessary corporate, departmental, and legislative requirements and procedures, to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained.
  • Develop own engineering experience and skills, moving towards the capability to move to a more senior role and towards professional qualification.
  • Coordinate and deliver Mechanical design tasks (designs, assessments, drawings, and reports), checking and approving the output.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (e.g. HNC/HND with significant experience) in engineering discipline
  • Attained/ or working towards chartered or incorporated status with a recognised professional body (e.g. IMechE)
  • Experience of highly regulated environments would be advantageous
  • Familiarity with CE Marking, CDM, PUWER, LOLER, PED, Machinery’s Directive
  • Experience in the use of Autodesk Inventor
