About the Role

Are you a talented Mechanical Engineer looking for an opportunity to make a real impact in a world-leading advanced materials business?

At Victrex, we're searching for an experienced and driven Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team at Hillhouse. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex manufacturing assets, lead improvement projects, and play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety and performance of critical plant equipment.

You'll work at the heart of our operations, using your technical expertise to solve engineering challenges, improve equipment reliability and support the delivery of our Asset Management Strategy.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll be a trusted technical expert, collaborating closely with maintenance, production and project teams to deliver engineering excellence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing specialist mechanical engineering support to maintenance and production teams.
  • Coaching and supporting Maintenance Technicians and Apprentices.
  • Developing and implementing engineering standards and ensuring compliance across the site.
  • Identifying and delivering improvements that enhance safety, reliability, quality and operational performance.
  • Managing minor capital projects from concept through to installation and commissioning.
  • Leading root cause investigations into equipment failures and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Supporting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Your Experience

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Essential qualifications for the role are:

  • A degree in an Engineering discipline. Preferably BEng or working towards
  • Chartered Engineer status or membership of a relevant professional institution.

You will ideally have:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment within a manufacturing or process plant environment.
  • Experience with rotating equipment such as pumps, centrifuges and associated systems.
  • A sound understanding of piping systems, fluid mechanics and pumped systems.
  • Knowledge of statutory engineering requirements including PSSR, PUWER and LOLER.
  • Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
