Mechanical Engineer
Location: Glasgow
Salary: Competitive + Annual Bonus + Excellent Benefits
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a major UK organisation at a large-scale, highly automated process facility in Glasgow.
Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, you will take responsibility for mechanical maintenance activities across the site, leading Mechanical Technicians and contractors while supporting plant reliability, availability, and long-term performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate mechanical maintenance activities across the plant
- Supervise and support Mechanical Technicians
- Plan and coordinate shutdowns, outages, and major maintenance activities
- Manage contractors and specialist engineering service providers
- Drive plant reliability, asset performance, and continuous improvement
- Manage Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work requirements
- Coordinate statutory inspections and mechanical compliance activities
- Support maintenance planning through the site's CMMS

Requirements
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong mechanical maintenance and engineering experience
- Experience within a heavy industrial, power generation, or continuous process environment
- Supervisory and/or contractor management experience
- Experience planning maintenance, shutdowns, or outages
- Knowledge of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work
- Experience with CMMS systems such as SAP PM, Maximo, or similar
- Knowledge of PSSR, Written Schemes of Examination, and statutory inspections would be advantageous
