Role Description

The Mechanical Engineer will work in a full-time hybrid role based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility for some work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing mechanical components and systems
  • Producing and reviewing CAD models and technical drawings
  • Supporting machine design activities from concept through production

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams on manufacturing feasibility
  • Conducting engineering calculations and analysis
  • Contributing to research and development projects to improve product performance and reliability
  • Participating in project planning
  • Tracking deliverables
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives in quality, cost, and efficiency

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with the ability to apply core principles to product and system design.
  • Proficiency in Machine Design, including component selection, tolerance analysis, and validation of mechanical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Capability in Project Management, including planning, coordination, and tracking of engineering tasks and milestones.
  • Experience in Research and Development (R&D), with skills in prototyping, testing, and performance evaluation.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and design for manufacturability in industrial environments.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in hybrid teams across office and remote settings.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and guidelines for maritime, machinery, or automotive applications is an advantage.
