Mechanical Verification Engineer
We’re working with a growing technology business that is expanding its engineering team and looking for a Mechanical Verification Engineer to join the business.
This is a hands-on role focused on the verification and validation of mechanical and electro-mechanical products, working closely with engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for planning, carrying out and documenting verification activities to ensure products meet their required performance, reliability and quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing verification and validation plans.
- Reviewing mechanical designs, drawings, tolerances, materials and assemblies.
- Carrying out environmental and durability testing.
- Performing structural integrity, wear, fatigue and lifecycle testing.
- Designing and building mechanical test fixtures, jigs and test rigs.
- Analysing test results and supporting root-cause investigations.
- Writing test plans, procedures and verification reports.
- Supporting prototype assembly and preparation of test samples.
- Maintaining and calibrating test equipment.
- Supporting external testing activities where required.
- Working closely with design, engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Feeding test results into ongoing product improvements.
- Contributing to improvements in verification processes and test methods.

What We're Looking For
We're interested in engineers with a mechanical, electro-mechanical, verification, validation or product testing background who enjoy a practical, hands-on environment.
Ideally, you'll have:
- A degree, HND or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of relevant engineering or testing experience.
- Experience with mechanical verification, validation, product testing or reliability testing.
- Previous experience testing mechanical or electro-mechanical products.
- Understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, tolerances and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
- Experience using measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges and torque tools.
- Practical workshop experience.
- Experience writing test plans, test procedures and technical reports.
- Basic CAD and/or 3D printing experience.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

Desirable Experience
Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:
- Environmental and reliability testing.
- Vibration, shock, thermal, ingress or durability testing.
- Designing or building test fixtures, jigs and rigs.
- PLC-controlled test equipment.
- Pneumatics and pneumatic control.
- Statistical analysis of test data.
- FMEA/DFMEA or structured risk analysis.
- GD&T and detailed mechanical drawings.
- Wiring to electrical schematics and soldering.
- Experience working with external test houses.
