Mechanical Engineer, Data Centres
JDL Recruitment are delighted to be partnered with a global Data Center Developer that's scaling its UK presence fast. As part of this growth, they are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their UK team.
This is a permanent position based in the UK, with a presence required onsite/at our clients offices. The package includes a competitive base salary, annual bonus and long term incentive (LTI) / share scheme.
Responsibilities:
- Play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our client's Mechanical systems.
- Work on the design, implementation, and maintenance of Mechanical infrastructure to support our client's data centre operations.
- Support the Design Managers in providing technical solutions through demonstrated deep understanding of technical and customer requirements across all key disciplines.
- Accountable for reviewing the related disciplines in the design process, providing instruction to RFIs and review/approve technical submittals.
- Research, evaluate, and inform mechanical equipment and other typology equipment/component selection to inform technical solution for respective customer requirements.
- Design, implement, and maintain the mechanical systems that support data centre facilities, in conjunction with the Design Managers.
- Provide technical support and input through delivery design phase to ensure performance requirements of mechanical and plumbing equipment meets project requirements.
- Post delivery, undertake reviews of mechanical and plumbing performance to identify opportunities for optimisation in operation, improvements in design and energy efficiency for future implementation.
- Provide design management, technical direction, decision-making and leadership for data centre designs and critical infrastructure systems.

Requirements:

- Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture and engineering, with a primary focus on data centres.
- Demonstrate understanding of hyperscale and co-location data centre operators basis of design and technical requirements.
- Understanding data centre facility design and construction requirements.
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical (or associated) Engineering, plus minimum of 6 - 8 years experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
- Strong project management or project lead experience including RFQ/RFP process, selecting engineering teams, developing budgets, coordinating multiple consultant teams and facilitating meetings.
- Experience managing cross functional and/ or cross team projects.
- Strong contractual background with excellent negotiation skills and the ability to achieve desirable outcomes.
- Relevant qualification/s in project management, engineering or other relevant discipline.
