The Role

We are currently looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer in our R&D Mechanical Engineering team at our Product Innovation Centre in Weymouth. Do you love working in a fun, forward-thinking environment?

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will maintain and manage applications of current and developing technology, and undertake engineering design, development and operation of printing solutions, factory line solutions, and their associated modules and configurable options.

You Will

  • Identify operational risks and evaluate engineering solutions, considering cost, quality, safety, reliability, appearance, fitness for purpose and intellectual property.
  • Contribute to the design and development of engineering products, processes, systems and services.
  • Prepare technical specifications and establish user requirements for improvements.
  • Identify, review and select appropriate techniques, procedures and methods to undertake engineering tasks efficiently.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and use established processes to analyse issues and establish priorities.
  • Use an evidence-based approach to investigate and solve engineering problems and implement corrective action.
  • Review procedures and processes and recommend improvements to reflect best practice.
  • Maintain and extend knowledge of current and emerging engineering technology and apply it successfully to tasks and projects.

About You

You are a Mechanical engineer who enjoys solving problems, contributing to continuous improvement and developing practical engineering solutions. You will bring a sound technical approach, good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines.

You Will Have

  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent Level 6 qualification with mid-level experience; OR Level 5 qualification (HND) with senior-level experience; OR Incorporated Engineer with mid-level experience; OR comparable specialist knowledge with mid-level professional experience.
  • Knowledge of product creation and change management processes.
  • Good knowledge of BS8888 and/or ISO8015.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD tools and EDM systems such as Teamcenter PLM.
  • Experience in the definition, design and assembly of manufacturing processes, including costs and geometric tolerances.
  • A good understanding of the functional interdependencies of dynamic mechanical, electromechanical and mechatronic systems.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in the design of special purpose machinery.
  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • FEA static linear analysis skills using ANSYS.
  • DFM and DFA knowledge.
