Job Title

Tower Transit Group is a global public transport operator providing bus services in Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the Channel Islands, with a strong focus on safety, people, and service quality.

In the UK (Huyton & South Wales) and Jersey, Tower Transit runs numerous bus routes, including the LibertyBus brand, which received Small/Medium Bus Operator of the Year at the 2024 Route One Awards. As part of the Kelsian Group (ASX: KLS), Tower Transit is expanding sustainable transport capabilities through depot electrification, electric bus operations, and hydrogen bus experience.

Location

This role will be based at our Wirral depot with regular travel to our Huyton depot.

Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Mechanical Engineer at Wirral depot. The Mechanical Engineer will design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems and components for bus fleets, with a focus on reliability, safety, and sustainability. Daily tasks include conducting performance and failure analyses, and collaborating with operations and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues. The role involves contributing to research and development initiatives related to electric, hybrid, and hydrogen-powered buses, as well as depot and workshop equipment. The Mechanical Engineer will also participate in cross-functional projects, manage timelines and deliverables, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Strong Mechanical Engineering skills, with knowledge of vehicle systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Project Management skills to plan, coordinate, and deliver engineering projects on schedule and within scope.
  • Research and Development (R&D) skills to support innovation in sustainable transport technologies and continuous improvement of fleet performance.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience with transport, automotive, or heavy vehicle industries, including electric or hydrogen propulsion, is beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively in remote, cross-functional teams, with clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and reliability engineering practices is advantageous.

Working Conditions

  • 40 hours per week, 05.00 - 14.00 Monday - Friday (overtime available)
  • Rate of pay - £21 PH
  • 25 days Holidays plus 8 Bank Holidays
