THE ROLE

As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of paper hygiene products, we are continuously striving to innovate and improve, as such Sofidel UK are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to be based at our Papermill in Hamilton, Leicester. The successful candidate will be a proactive and reliable individual with a strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and take pride in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and performance. You’ll play a key role in reducing downtime, improving machine performance, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide first hand intervention when there is a mechanical breakdown and assist with troubleshooting of equipment problems
  • Repair and perform preventive maintenance as per established standards and plans
  • To check equipment and operating systems and correct wherever necessary
  • To ensure mechanical operations, standards and controls are maintained at high quality
  • Complete maintenance care obligations and render assistance in equipment repair as necessary
  • To perform quality improvement and cost reduction and productivity as obligated
  • To oversee mechanical devices while in operation and listen for complications using accurate testing and measuring instruments
  • To take out inoperative parts by disassembling devices with the use specific tools
  • Regulate downtime by enlightening production staff on standard preventive maintenance methods
  • Maintain records and files if requested
  • To participate in emergency on-call duty on a rotational basis and work all shifts flexibly when job demands
  • Ensure a high level of housekeeping of the working area is maintained throughout the shift
  • To ensure health & safety rules are adhered to

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven hands-on experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Recognised apprenticeship or degree within the field of: mechanical engineering/electrical engineering/engineering
  • FMCG experience

WORKING HOURS

  • 42 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 07:00-16:00
