Mechanical Engineer/Mechanical Fitter
Pro-Found Recruitment Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer/Mechanical Fitter to join our client based in the DN12 area of Rotherham.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on mechanical engineer with strong fitting, installation, maintenance and fault-finding experience to join an established manufacturing business.
Location: Denaby Main - DN12
Salary: Negotiable
Temporary - approx. 6 weeks
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm and Friday 8am to 12 noon - 40 hours per week
The Role
Working within a busy industrial manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for the mechanical fitting, installation, maintenance and repair of plant and machinery across the site.
You'll be a practical, hands-on engineer who is confident stripping down, repairing, fitting and installing mechanical equipment and identifying faults to keep production running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance.
- Mechanical fitting, assembly and installation of machinery and plant.
- Stripping down, repairing and rebuilding mechanical equipment.
- Mechanical fault-finding and diagnosing equipment breakdowns.
- Installing and replacing mechanical components.
- Working with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, shafts and associated mechanical equipment.
- Carrying out alignment, adjustment and installation work.
- Supporting machinery modifications and improvement projects.
- Fabrication and basic welding work where required.
- Identifying potential mechanical issues and carrying out preventative repairs.
- Working closely with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime.
- Completing maintenance records and documentation.
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with site procedures.

Criteria
We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer/Fitter with experience working in a manufacturing, industrial or heavy engineering environment.

You'll Ideally Have
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or similar.
- Strong practical mechanical fitting and installation skills.
- Experience stripping, fitting, assembling and repairing industrial machinery.
- Good mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- Experience working with mechanical plant and production equipment.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Good knowledge of mechanical components and maintenance practices.
- A practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to health and safety.
- Relevant engineering qualifications would be advantageous. Experience within refractories, steel, foundry, manufacturing, heavy engineering or other industrial environments would be particularly beneficial.
