Company Overview
Alloyed is a young venture-funded company of about 300 world-class metallurgists, engineers, and software developers working across the UK, Japan and the US to build the future of advanced metal components and systems. To do this, Alloyed uses proprietary software packages which combine advanced machine learning and physical modelling to invent better alloys, devise better ways to process them, and design better 3D-printed components and assemblies.
Alloyed is composed of a range of divisions, enabling metal technology from composition to systems:
- Core Technology: Alloyed's internal research and technology hub, focused on creating the new alloys, manufacturing methods, digital tools and intellectual property that will power the company's future products and capabilities.
- Innovation Services: Work directly with customers to develop, optimise and qualify materials and manufacturing processes for demanding aerospace, defence, energy and industrial applications.
- Component Engineering: Design, manufacture and validate production-ready components, turning material and process innovations into high-performance hardware for customer applications.
- Argive: Develop and manufacture complete microturbine engine systems under ambitious timelines and customer expectations, enabled by Alloyed’s software stack, proprietary Alloys and AM processing capabilities.
Whether you're a recent graduate or a current university student, we offer exciting opportunities to gain real-world engineering experience at Alloyed.
- Graduate Engineers: Full-time positions for graduates ready to launch their careers on or before September 2027.
- Summer Internships: 8-week placements for students looking to apply their learning in an industry environment starting in July 2027.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Role Overview
Mechanical design sits at the heart of turning advanced materials and manufacturing technologies into high-performance components and systems.
Alloyed mechanical design engineers develop advanced design tools, apply design for additive manufacturing methods, solve qualification challenges, and help bring entirely new products from concept into production.
We’re looking for curious, ambitious engineers who enjoy tackling difficult technical problems and want to push the limits of what additive manufacturing can achieve.
What you'll work on:
Working in the mechanical engineering team, you’ll work across Alloyed’s divisions, taking ownership of real engineering challenges from day one. You’ll collaborate with customers and with materials, manufacturing and software engineers to optimise existing components for additive manufacturing or develop entirely new products from initial concept through to final design.
Responsibilities
- Creating and iterating on 3D CAD models of components and assemblies, ensuring alignment with functional and manufacturing requirements.
- Developing and releasing detailed technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing, inspection, and assembly.
- Supporting design reviews, maintaining high standards of clarity and accuracy.
- Maintaining organized version control and file management within PLM/CAD environments.
- Assisting in rapid prototyping and design-for-manufacture evaluations during early development phases.
