Mechanical Engineering Instructor
Permanent
Location: Yorkshire and the Humber
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
Are you an experienced mechanical engineer looking to share your skills and knowledge with the next generation of engineers?
About the Role
You'll deliver engaging, practical training in mechanical engineering to learners working towards their qualifications, drawing on your own industry background to bring real-world context to every session. This is a role for someone who takes pride in their trade and wants to pass that expertise on, helping learners build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
You don't need to have taught before. If you've spent years working in mechanical engineering and want a new challenge, full training support will be available to help you make the move into instruction.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering practical and theoretical mechanical engineering sessions to learners of varying abilities.
- Assessing learner progress and providing clear, constructive feedback.
- Maintaining accurate records of learner achievement and progress.
- Ensuring that workshop and classroom environments meet health and safety standards.
- Supporting learners to develop the practical skills and knowledge required to meet their qualification standards.

What We're Looking For
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering
- Significant industry experience in mechanical engineering
- Strong practical skills across core mechanical engineering disciplines
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- A genuine interest in supporting and developing learners
Desirable (but not essential):
- A teaching or assessing qualification
- Experience delivering training or mentoring in a workplace or educational setting
