Are you a Mechanical Estimator from an MEP or Building Services background looking to become a key technical specialist within a growing business, where you'll have the autonomy to lead major tenders, influence project success, and progress into management?
This well-established MEP contractor has been delivering high-quality engineering solutions for over 60 years and continues to grow across the UK. Working across the Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Life Sciences, Heritage, Hospitality and Residential sectors, the company delivers complex mechanical and electrical projects from concept through to completion. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to add a Mechanical Estimator to strengthen their pre-construction team.
In this role, you will take ownership of mechanical tenders from initial enquiry through to project handover. You'll prepare detailed cost estimates from drawings and specifications, obtain competitive supplier and subcontractor quotations, identify value engineering opportunities, assess commercial risk, and work closely with clients and internal teams to secure major MEP projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
