Mechanical Fitter

Location: Leicester
Salary: Up to £45,000 basic + monthly bonus, overtime and Monthly bonus scheme
OTE: Up to £55,000–£60,000
Working Hours: Days – with an early finish on Fridays
Holiday: 33 days including bank holidays

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter or Machine Tool Engineer with a strong background in CNC machine tool assembly, precision alignment, and commissioning?

We are currently looking for a skilled engineer to join an established team in the Leicester area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with high-precision machinery and has experience building and aligning complex multi-axis CNC machines.

The Role

As a Machine Tool Engineer, you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly, precision alignment, and commissioning of a range of high-quality CNC machine tools.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Building and assembling a variety of CNC machine tools
  • Precision alignment of 5-axis CNC machinery
  • Carrying out complex mechanical alignment to tight tolerances
  • Using specialist precision equipment, including Renishaw systems and autocollimators
  • Working with DTIs (Dial Test Indicators)
  • Aligning ball screws and linear guide rails
  • Carrying out mechanical testing and fault finding
  • Supporting basic machine control commissioning
  • Ensuring machines meet required quality and accuracy standards
  • Working closely with the wider engineering team to complete projects efficiently

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with a solid background in machine tool fitting, mechanical assembly, and precision alignment.

You Should Have:

  • Proven experience as a Machine Tool Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, or similar
  • Strong experience assembling and commissioning CNC machine tools
  • Excellent knowledge of precision mechanical alignment
  • Experience working with 5-axis machinery would be highly beneficial
  • Familiarity with Renishaw equipment, autocollimators, and DTIs
  • Experience aligning ball screws and linear rails
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • A positive, reliable, and team-focused attitude
  • The ability to commute to the LE8 area
