Mechanical Fitter - Sandy, Bedfordshire - £34-37k

My client is a successful UK manufacturer specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke machinery. With a growing production team, they are continuing to expand and are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their team.

This is a hands-on opportunity to work on the assembly, testing and maintenance of specialist machinery supplied to customers across a range of industries worldwide.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reading and interpreting mechanical assembly and pneumatic drawings.
  • Mechanically and pneumatically assembling bespoke and special-purpose machinery.
  • Building machinery and specialist components to a high standard.
  • Carrying out field wiring in preparation for electrical fitters.
  • Inspecting returned machinery and assessing its functionality and condition.
  • Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs or component replacements.
  • Testing machinery following assembly, repair and maintenance to ensure correct operation.

  • Previous experience working as a Mechanical Fitter or similar engineering role.
  • Experience assembling bespoke or special-purpose machinery.
  • Good mechanical fitting and assembly skills.
  • Experience with pneumatics.
  • Electrical fitting or machine wiring experience would be a bonus.
  • The ability to read and work accurately from engineering drawings.
  • A positive, team-focused approach.

The position is fully site-based at my client's manufacturing facility in Sandy.
