Mechanical Fitter Opportunity! DAYS ONLY!

This is a first-class Mechanical Maintenance Technician position; this role will be site based in Immingham!

What Is In It For You?

  • Annual base Salary of £42,000 - £45,000 per annum DOE
  • Days only (8am-4:30pm Monday to Friday)
  • Overtime is always available if wanted, paid at time and a half.

The Business

Our client specialises within the Agricultural sector, they are a true market leader within their niche. The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving the mechanical reliability of plant and equipment across our client's manufacturing facility. Working safely and collaboratively with Production and Engineering colleagues, the Mechanical Fitter will carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive breakdown repairs and continuous improvement activities to maximise plant availability, equipment reliability and operational performance.

The Role

  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
  • Inspect machinery and identify developing mechanical issues.
  • Working to maintain equipment such as drums, coolers & dryers and associated drives.
  • Working to maintain belt conveyor systems including gear boxes, rollers and bearings.
  • Maintaining bucket elevators including motors and gear boxes.
  • Maintaining dust extraction systems.
  • Working to maintain packaging equipment bagging machines with pneumatic systems.
  • Replace worn or damaged components before failure occurs.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records within the CMMS.
  • Respond safely and efficiently to mechanical breakdowns.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimise production downtime.
  • Escalate recurring failures and support root cause investigations.
  • Support production during planned shutdowns.
  • Install new plant and equipment.
  • Assist with machinery modifications and upgrades.
  • Support engineering improvement projects.
  • Recommend improvements to increase reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Identify recurring equipment failures.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Support development of preventative maintenance routines.
  • Assist in reducing reactive maintenance through improved asset care.
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Work in accordance with Permit to Work procedures.
  • Ensure isolation procedures (LOTO) are followed.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping within workshops and plant areas.
  • Report hazards and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Work closely with Production to minimise downtime.
  • Support apprentices and less experienced engineers.
  • Share knowledge and contribute to engineering best practice.

The Person

  • Time-served Mechanical Engineer/Fitter or recognised apprenticeship.
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience working with gear boxes, motors, drives, bearings, pneumatics, valves, etc.
  • Experience maintaining conveyor systems including replacing rollers and aligning belts.
  • Experience within manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic systems.
  • Bearing and gearbox replacement.
  • Conveyor maintenance.
  • Experience using CMMS systems.
  • True team player and someone who works to root cause.
