Position - Mechanical Fitter

Location: Ellesmere Port

Duration: 6 Weeks

Start: ASAP

Wood is seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to support a project based onsite in Ellesmere Port.

This is a hands-on role suited to highly skilled Mechanical Fitters with proven experience working within fast-paced shutdown environments, carrying out high-quality work on critical plant equipment and systems.

Candidates must be safety-focused, quality-driven, and comfortable working in demanding environments, including confined spaces and at height, while delivering work to tight schedules.

Responsibilities

Purpose / Role

  • Read, understand and implement all applicable company / project policies, working practices and procedures, ensuring at all times that the plating/structural work scope is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Follow the schedule communicated by the supervisor.
  • Complete all workscope in accordance with applicable workpack / jobcard instructions, associated procedures and drawings / sketches.
  • Provide support to other trades/disciplines where required, or form part of an integrated multi-discipline team.
  • Apply for relevant permits to work (PTW) in order to complete workscope in a controlled and safe manner (onshore only).
  • Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments (RA) in order to complete workscope in a safe and controlled manner.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in industrial environments, preferably within the oil, gas, or related sectors.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shutdown environment.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Relevant mechanical fitter qualifications/certifications (such as NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • CCNSG Safety passport.
  • Wood mandatory training, induction, risk awareness, etc.
  • TMJI10.
  • Ability to work at heights and work in confined spaces.
