Astute's Power Team Recruitment for Lead Mechanical Technician
Astute's Power Team are recruiting a Lead Mechanical Technician for an Energy from Waste plant located in Belfast.
This new role within the maintenance department is focusing on maximising plant availability & reliability by carrying out a variety of engineering tasks on mechanical assets including conveyors, belts, pumps, valves, fans etc. This includes project engineering, supervisory duties and workload planning / scheduling.

Responsibilities and duties:
As the Mechanical Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Safe Systems of Work, prioritising the safety of people, plant and the environment.
- Develop, review and optimise preventative maintenance plans within Maximo to maximise plant reliability and minimise downtime.
- Plan maintenance work by confirming permits, RAMS, parts and tooling are in place before execution.
- Work with the Mechanical Engineer to resolve technical issues and improve maintenance strategies.
- Manage mechanical projects from planning through to completion, delivering on time and within budget.
- Lead and develop the mechanical maintenance team, driving safe working, high performance and continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective support of the on-call rota and out-of-hours maintenance activities.
- Manage planned, reactive and corrective mechanical maintenance to maximise plant availability.

Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Apprentice qualified with a relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification
- Minimum Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- It would be advantageous to have an IOSH
Personal skills
The Mechanical Lead role would suit someone with:
- Knowledge of PSSR (pressure Systems Safety Regulations) and LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations)
- Welding / Fabrication experience
- Leadership qualities
- Scheduling / Planning experience
- Familiarity with MAXIMO or similar Computerised Maintenance Management System
