An established and highly successful engineering and industrial business is looking to appoint a Maintenance Engineer to join its growing operation in Poole.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem solving, and keeping machinery and equipment operating at peak performance. Working within a busy, fast-paced environment, you'll become a key part of the operation, taking ownership of preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and the upkeep of site equipment and infrastructure.

This is a genuinely practical role, suited to someone who enjoys being on the tools rather than managing people.

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - The Role

As the Maintenance Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring plant, machinery, and site facilities remain safe, reliable, and operational. You'll be trusted to manage your own workload, respond to breakdowns efficiently, and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability.

Initially, the position operates Monday to Friday during daytime hours. As the business continues to grow, there may be opportunities to support an evolving maintenance function across extended operational hours.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
