Mechanical Maintenance Technician
£47 - 52k | Newcastle | Permanent
15 days off in every 21 | No weekend working plus private healthcare
CDM Recruitment is working with a major engineering and manufacturing business in Newcastle to recruit an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician.
This is a hands-on maintenance role working across a substantial manufacturing site, covering reactive and preventative maintenance, breakdowns, fault finding, and equipment improvement.
The shift pattern is a major benefit: five 12-hour day shifts and five 12-hour night shifts across a 21-day cycle, giving you 15 days off in every 21 with no weekend working.

The role:
- Reactive, planned, and preventative mechanical maintenance
- Mechanical fault finding and breakdown response
- Maintenance of manufacturing and production equipment
- Hydraulic and pneumatic fault finding
- Root cause analysis and equipment reliability improvements
- Supporting machinery installation and commissioning
- Continuous improvement and downtime reduction

What we're looking for:
- Time-served Mechanical Maintenance Technician
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
- Maintenance experience within manufacturing or engineering
- Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
- Hydraulic and pneumatic experience
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- HNC or equivalent advantageous
Package:
- £47k basic + overtime and annual bonus
- Permanent position
