Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Days & Shift Opportunities Available

We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineers to join a busy heavy industrial operation. Working as part of an established engineering team, you will play a key role in maintaining plant performance, improving reliability and minimising downtime across the site.

Monday to Friday
07:45 - 17:00
Salary: £42,770 - £50,620

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (4 on 4 Off)
06:00 - 18:00
Salary: £48,822 - £54,452

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the maintenance and reliability of a wide range of industrial plant and equipment. This is a hands-on position requiring a proactive approach to fault finding, repairs and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver routine and scheduled maintenance activities to maximise plant availability and reliability.
  • Investigate equipment failures, identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
  • Carry out servicing, overhaul and refurbishment of mechanical systems and site assets.
  • Support operational teams by resolving plant issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Conduct inspections on critical equipment and proactively identify potential failures.
  • Replace and repair mechanical components including bearings, chains, rollers, gearboxes, motors and drive systems.
  • Assist with machinery upgrades, plant modifications and engineering improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using the site's maintenance management system.
  • Work closely with colleagues and contractors to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Contribute ideas and solutions to improve equipment performance, reliability and site productivity.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed in line with health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Participate in shutdown activities, major repairs and planned engineering works as required.

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Previous maintenance experience within heavy plant, industrial, processing, quarrying, aggregates, bulk materials handling or similar environments.
