About The Role

Manpower UK is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a permanent position in Dudley, offering a salary up to £35,000 per annum. This role involves a day shift pattern, working 40 hours per week from Monday to Thursday, with a 5:00am start. Overtime is available at £20 per hour, with enhanced Sunday rates of £33.65. You will join a well-established heavy engineering manufacturer, reporting to the Engineering Manager. Your duties will focus on maintaining and improving plant reliability across the casting and engineering sector. We are looking for a skilled engineer with strong mechanical aptitude, ideally experienced in heavy industry, who can contribute to ongoing investment and increased production demands. This is a stable, long-term opportunity with a solid order book.

The Opportunity

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established heavy engineering manufacturer operating within the casting and engineering sector.

Due to ongoing investment and increased production demands, the business is looking to appoint a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team on a permanent day shift.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving plant reliability across a busy manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities
  • Diagnose and repair faults on hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
  • Maintain gearboxes, bearings, cylinders, valves, pumps and rotating equipment
  • Perform welding, cutting, grinding and general fabrication work
  • Support TPM and continuous improvement activities
  • Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime
  • Contribute to site safety, reliability and operational improvements

What We're Looking For

We're interested in engineers from heavy manufacturing, foundry, steel, quarrying, aggregates, recycling, cement, process manufacturing or similar industrial environments.

Ideally You'll Have Experience With

  • Hydraulics, valves and cylinders
  • Bearings and rotating equipment
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Gearboxes and transmissions
  • Pumps, conveyors and industrial machinery
  • Welding, cutting and grinding

You'll Also Have

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in planned and reactive maintenance
  • Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge
  • A hands-on approach and strong commitment to safety

Experience within a foundry environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

Please note: This is a heavy industrial manufacturing environment involving heat, dust, noise and large-scale production equipment.
