About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Optimise system performance ā Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance automated electromechanical systems, including:
- Refrigeration systems
- Meat processing equipment
- Conveyors & fluid handling systems
- Reduce downtime ā Diagnose breakdowns efficiently, ensuring rapid resolutions to minimise productivity losses.
- Technical leadership ā Lead teams by sharing expertise, providing training, and facilitating problem-solving.
- Continuous improvement ā Identify small-scale optimisations (e.g., process inefficiencies) to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Safety champion ā Participate in risk assessments, adhere to ISO 14000 standards, and enforce protocols (PTW, Hot Work, etc.).
- Bridge communication ā Facilitate co-operation between operations and technical teams to ensure smooth workflows.
- Skills development ā Mentor team members through technical training, nurturing future talent in maintenance engineering.

Who You Are
Mars seeks a pragmatic and proactive individual with:
Essential Requirements
- Qualifications: Minimum HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, complemented by practical experience.
- Industry expertise: Proven experience in FMCG/manufacturing environmentsāyou excel at troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical systems.
- Problem-solving: Strong ability to conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and fault-finding in fast-paced settings.
- Technical proficiency:
- Experience with ABB/Kuka robotics, Allen Bradley PLCs, and predictive maintenance tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PI Process Book, and SAP Planned Maintenance.
- Coaching & leadership: Thrives in a collaborative culture, with a passion for guiding teams through technical challenges.
Desirable
- Exposure to automated food processing systems (ideal but not mandatory).
- Previous experience in lean manufacturing methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
- Familiarity with **Vocational Training*k views or similar structured development programs.
