Job Purpose and Impact
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability Technician to join our engineering team in Hull. This opportunity offers:

Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
As a Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability Technician, you will:

- Maintain and optimise plant reliability by combining:
- Preventative (scheduled) maintenance
- Predictive (condition-monitoring) maintenance
- Reactive (unscheduled) maintenance
- Ensure the facility’s equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.
- Weekly Work Schedule: Mon–Fri, rotating shifts (6am–2pm, 7am–3pm, or 2pm–10pm)
- Call-outs: Approximately once every 6 weeks for urgent repairs.
Accountabilities
- Apply maintenance and reliability practices to keep assets operational and perform in safe condition, extending equipment lifespans.
- Independently execute preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance, including:
- Troubleshooting and repair of rotating machinery, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Fault-finding on electrical and mechanical systems powered by handles, precision tools, power tools, and maintenance software.
- Modify schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals under guidance.
- Document maintenance work in computerised systems and collaborate with colleagues and leadership to improve facility operations.
- Operate forklifts and scissor lifts to transport equipment according to production standards.
- Carry out additional duties as required by the team.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements
✔ A recognised mechanical engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, Apprenticeship, or equivalent). ✔ Previous experience in:
- Manufacturing, food, FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), chemical, or other industrial industries.
- Mechanical fault-finding and general maintenance.
- Rotating equipment (pumps, bearings, gearboxes) or hydraulic/pneumatic systems. ✔ Ability to apply a proactive problem-solving approach. ✔ Demonstrated teamwork and communication skills.

Desirable
✅ Basic experience in electrical fault-finding (preferably PLCs). ✅ Knowledge of welding, fabrication, or precision instrumentation.
