Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Energy company in the UK to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Specialist to join its CCGT site in North Lincolnshire.

Salary and Benefits

The Mechanical Maintenance Specialist role comes with a starting salary of £58,000 – £65,000 + medical insurance + bonus of up to 30% + 10% pension contributions.

Responsibilities and Duties

Reporting to The Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader, you will:

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver planned, preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance across the power station.
  • Maintain critical plant equipment including gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, HRSGs, boilers, pressure systems, valves, pumps, and rotating equipment.
  • Lead maintenance planning and work pack preparation, including risk assessments, method statements, and resource scheduling.
  • Investigate equipment failures, diagnose faults, and lead root cause analysis to improve plant reliability.
  • Support planned outages by preparing mechanical work scopes and ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Manage mechanical maintenance activities within the Maximo CMMS, including work orders, purchase requisitions, and maintenance documentation.
  • Supervise contractors and maintenance teams, ensuring all activities comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Develop maintenance strategies including lubrication, condition monitoring, and equipment reliability improvements.
  • Provide technical support, coaching, and mentoring to technicians and apprentices within the mechanical team.
  • Participate in reliability studies, HAZOPs, and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize plant availability and performance.

Professional Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (essential) or a Degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of five years’ mechanical maintenance experience within the power generation industry. (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of gas turbines, steam turbines, and associated balance of plant equipment. (Essential)
  • Proven experience planning, scoping, and delivering complex mechanical maintenance activities and outages.
  • COMPEX certification and MJI10/18/19 Flange Integrity training. Experience with laser alignment, balancing, condition monitoring, PSSR, and ASME B31.1/B31.3 is advantageous.
