Location: Widnes, Cheshire
Salary: Up to £40k, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time, on-site
Shift: Days (On-call responsibilities apply)

The Role:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing production environment where you will play a crucial role in maintaining plant reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on industrial production equipment and site services.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and perform effective repairs.
- Maintain and repair pumps, gearboxes, motors, agitators, valves, and associated equipment.
- Work on mechanical drives, bearings, seals, and rotating equipment.
- Install and maintain industrial pipework and associated fittings.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and asset information using company systems to support operational compliance and performance.
- Work on industrial utilities, including steam boilers and compressed-air systems.
- Support equipment installation, modifications, and improvement projects.
- Identify recurring equipment failures and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize equipment downtime.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with site health, safety, quality, and hygiene procedures.

About You:
- At least 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within heavy industry, chemical, or process environment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good knowledge of health & safety procedures and safe systems of work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
- Must hold an apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications in a mechanical discipline, i.e., NVQ Level 3 or C&G Apprenticeship.
- Good computer skills; experience with preventive maintenance software is an advantage.
- A working knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act is essential.

Advantageous Skills:
- Experience with welding, fabrication, and industrial pipework.
- Experience rotating equipment overhauls, hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of steam boiler and air compressor plants.
