Mechanical Maintenance Technician (Plumbing Bias)

Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne

Pay Method: £16.11ph PAYE

Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm

Contract: Temporary with the opportunity to become permanent

We're currently seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Maintenance Technician with a strong plumbing bias to join a well-established maintenance team responsible for a diverse estate of buildings across Newcastle. From historic listed properties to modern, state-of-the-art facilities such as the Helix, you'll play a key role in maintaining a wide range of properties and facilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a plumbing background who enjoys varied maintenance work and wants to develop their skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, your workload will be predominantly plumbing focused, with around 90% of your day-to-day duties involving domestic plumbing maintenance and repairs. The remaining workload will include general mechanical maintenance activities across the estate.

Typical duties include:

  • Maintenance and repair of thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs)
  • Repairing and replacing taps, sinks, toilets, and showers
  • Diagnosing and resolving plumbing faults
  • Planned preventative maintenance
  • Reactive maintenance and emergency repairs
  • Supporting wider mechanical maintenance tasks when required
  • Delivering a high standard of customer service to building users

You'll be part of a team of engineers and plumbers working across a diverse property portfolio, with plans to further integrate the disciplines into one highly skilled maintenance team.

About You

We're looking for an individual with a strong plumbing background who is practical, reliable, and customer-focused.

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance (or equivalent)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Previous experience in plumbing maintenance
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Positive, proactive attitude
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and adapt within a varied maintenance environment
