A leading Facilities Management organisation is seeking a Mechanical Manager in Edinburgh to take responsibility for mechanical services across a large, complex healthcare estate.

This is a senior, predominantly site-based position requiring strong technical knowledge, people management and the confidence to work directly with clients and senior stakeholders.

The Role

As The Mechanical Manager, You’ll

  • Oversee mechanical and water services across a complex estate.
  • Manage multiple technical projects and support a wider operational engineering team.
  • Provide technical leadership across water systems, plumbing, HVAC and steam generation.
  • Support Legionella prevention, water flushing and water compliance activities.
  • Ensure services meet relevant legislation, safety requirements and Scottish healthcare technical standards.
  • Work closely with supervisors, engineers, contractors and senior stakeholders.
  • Act as a key technical point of contact for the client.
  • Manage operational issues and provide solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support continuous improvement across mechanical services and technical delivery.

You

To be successful, you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Manager, Technical Manager or similar.
  • Strong technical knowledge of water services and plumbing.
  • Knowledge of Legionella management, flushing, HVAC and associated mechanical systems.
  • Strong people and project management experience.
  • Confidence managing client relationships and challenging decisions constructively.
  • A structured, process-driven approach with the ability to respond quickly to operational issues.
  • Healthcare experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Scottish HTMs would be beneficial.
  • IOSH, NEBOSH, CDM Or SMSTS Qualifications Would Be Advantageous.
  • Professional membership such as IHEEM or IMechE would be desirable.
  • Willingness to obtain AP (Vent) status, with training provided.
