Mechanical Project Engineer – Building Services

Energy Plant Construction Project
£55k - £75k + dependant on experience
Manchester based
Accommodation / Subsistence covered when visit site in Cumbria

Our client is a multinational energy company with several large-scale construction projects currently live in the UK.

They own a subsidiary who are a specialist mechanical and electrical engineering contractor who will be undertaking a UK first engineering programme, based in Cumbria, working toward the UK’s Net Zero Target.

We are looking for a technically minded Mechanical Project Engineer, based in Greater Manchester, to take on some of the building services packages.

Your role as a Project Engineer (Mechanical) will be to technically coordinate and support the delivery of mechanical services during design development, procurement, modelling, installation, and commissioning activities. Working under the direction of the Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer, you will help ensure compliance with the project brief, technical specifications, industry regulations, and the Building Safety Act.

Skills

  • Communication – explaining technical issues in simple terms, writing clear reports, RFIs and emails, working collaboratively between mechanical and electrical teams.
  • Organisation and time management – manage multiple tasks at once, track deadlines, drawings and procurement, prioritise urgent site issues, keep documentation organised.
  • Problem-solving ability – analyse problems quickly and find practical solutions.
  • Attention to detail – careful checking of drawings and specifications, installation quality, commissioning procedures and health and safety procedures.
  • Technical curiosity and continuous learning – show an interest in new technologies, learn new standards and regulations and proactively improve technical knowledge over time

Essential (minimum) qualifications:

  • HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • CSCS / SMSTS / SSSTS beneficial
