The role;
The UK is rapidly expanding its hydrogen production capabilities as part of its Net Zero strategy. With a national target of 10GW of low‑carbon hydrogen production by 2030, Dalkia Engineering is proud to be the EPC contractor on two major hydrogen production schemes in the North West (Barrow & Trafford).
What you'll be doing;
To support this growing pipeline, we are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer with experience in technically challenging, multi‑disciplined engineering environments. This is a key role within our expanding Energy department and an opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's most significant low‑carbon growth sectors.

Key Responsibilities;
- Deliver technical and commercial support for mechanical installation projects.
- Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient site operations.
- Review and interpret mechanical design information, adapting solutions where required.
- Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and performance.
- Provide clear technical leadership and guidance to site teams and foremen.
- Deliver project activities on time and within budget.
- Support procurement processes and ensure technical compliance.
- Maintain project reporting systems and monitor performance against targets.
- Identify risks and constraints, implementing effective corrective actions.
- Manage subcontractor performance and coordinate with project stakeholders.
- Act as a professional representative of Dalkia Engineering in client interactions.
- Contribute proactively to project meetings and progress reviews.
- Champion QSHE standards across all project activities.
- Identify and resolve defects, supporting successful commissioning.
- Mentor and support the development of trainees and junior team members.

Who we're looking for;
Are you a qualified Mechanical Engineer who is looking to work on a prestigious, innovative project? You'll need an HNC / HND / Degree in Engineering Services along with Black CSCS Skill Card and IOSH Managing Safety.
In addition, you will need to be able to:
- Set clear weekly priorities and responsibilities
- Plan effectively and monitor progress against objectives
- Communicate expectations confidently and professionally
- Manage resources efficiently (people, materials, information)
- Provide constructive feedback and drive continuous improvement
- Work independently while contributing positively to team outcomes
