Mechanical Lead – £90m Mechanical Package
Hyperscale Data Centre
Location: London – approximately 20 minutes from the City
TClarke are currently looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Lead to take overall responsibility for the delivery of a £90m mechanical package on a major hyperscale data centre project in London, located approximately 20 minutes from the City.
The project is currently in preconstruction, running through to December 2026, before moving into full construction and delivery. With completion expected in approximately three years, this is a long-term opportunity to lead a major mechanical package from early-stage design and preconstruction through to installation, commissioning, and handover.
This is a key leadership position within the project team, providing overall direction and accountability for the mechanical scope while working closely with the Project Director, wider MEP leadership, client, consultants, design teams, and supply chain.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Lead / Senior Mechanical Project Manager / Mechanical Project Director to take ownership of a £90m mechanical package on a major hyperscale data centre.
You will be involved from the preconstruction phase, helping shape the mechanical delivery strategy before taking the package through procurement, construction, commissioning, and final handover.
With preconstruction continuing until December 2026 and approximately three years of construction and delivery thereafter, the role offers genuine long-term project visibility and the opportunity to play a significant part in the successful delivery of a major hyperscale development.

Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the delivery of the £90m mechanical package.
- Lead and manage the mechanical project delivery team across preconstruction and construction.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across all mechanical workstreams.
- Oversee mechanical design development, technical coordination, and buildability.
- Lead the procurement and management of mechanical subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
- Develop and manage the mechanical delivery strategy and programme.
- Monitor progress, productivity, programme performance, and key milestones.
- Coordinate mechanical works with electrical, CSA, commissioning, and wider project teams.
- Manage technical queries, RFIs, design development, and technical issues.
- Maintain strong relationships with the client, consultants, subcontractors, and wider project stakeholders.
- Work closely with the commercial team to manage package performance, change, and risk.
- Drive quality, health & safety, and compliance across the mechanical works.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, completion, and handover of the mechanical systems.
- Identify potential risks and delays and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Provide regular reporting on mechanical package performance, programme, and key deliverables.
About You
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Mechanical Lead, Senior Mechanical Project Manager, or Mechanical Project Director with a strong track record of delivering large-scale mechanical packages within an MEP contracting environment.

- Significant experience delivering major mechanical building services projects.
- Proven experience leading substantial mechanical packages, ideally £50m+ and preferably approaching or exceeding £90m.
- Strong technical understanding of HVAC, pipework, plantrooms, and associated mechanical systems.
- Experience leading large project teams and managing multiple mechanical workstreams.
- Strong understanding of design coordination, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Proven experience managing mechanical subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
- Strong commercial and programme awareness.
- Experience working directly with clients, consultants, and senior project stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and project delivery.
Data centre experience is preferable, particularly experience delivering large-scale hyperscale or mission-critical facilities. However, this is not essential. Candidates with strong experience delivering major mechanical packages on other technically complex projects will also be considered, including commercial, pharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare, infrastructure, and high-value residential developments.
The key requirement is a proven ability to lead major mechanical packages and delivery teams on complex MEP projects.
