Mechanical Project Manager
Location: Cardiff, Wales (Project Based)
Future Opportunities: Ireland & Europe
Salary: Circa £125,000 + Accommodation Provided
About the Role
A leading international engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of a large-scale project in Cardiff, Wales. Following completion, further opportunities will be available across major projects in Ireland and Europe.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proven Mechanical PM with experience delivering complex Data Centre, Energy, and Pharmaceutical projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing mechanical works from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The company operates across the Data Centre, Energy & Industrial, and Building Services sectors, delivering large-scale engineering and M&E projects throughout Ireland, the UK, Europe, and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical delivery of large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.
- Manage all aspects of project execution including planning, procurement, installation, commissioning, and client handover.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams including site management, engineering, procurement, commercial, and subcontractor personnel.
- Ensure all mechanical installations are delivered in accordance with project specifications, programme requirements, and quality standards.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, variations, and commercial performance.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Drive health, safety, environmental, and quality performance across the project.
- Chair progress meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Manage commissioning activities and oversee successful project close-out.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical support to project teams.

Requirements
Essential
- Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7-10 years' experience delivering large-scale mechanical projects.
- Recent experience as a Mechanical Project Manager on major construction projects.
- Proven track record delivering projects within the following sectors:
- Data Centres
- Energy / Industrial Projects
- Pharmaceutical Facilities
- Strong knowledge of mechanical building services systems including HVAC, chilled water, LTHW, pipework, process systems, and plant installations.
- Experience managing subcontractors, budgets, schedules, and project reporting.
- Excellent client-facing and leadership skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and contractual understanding.
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel for future projects across Ireland and Europe.

Desirable
- Experience working on mission-critical environments.
- Previous experience on hyperscale data centre projects.
- Knowledge of BIM and digital construction processes.
- SMSTS, Safe Pass, First Aid, or equivalent safety certifications.
