Mechanical Project Manager
Location: London
Salary: £95k - 110k
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a leading MEP contractor delivering major, technically complex construction projects across London. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and commercially aware Mechanical Project Manager to take ownership of significant mechanical building services packages on large-scale developments. You will lead the project delivery team and manage projects from pre-construction through to installation, commissioning and final handover.
Projects are likely to include major commercial developments, data centres, healthcare, life sciences and other technically demanding schemes.
The Role
As Mechanical Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of mechanical building services works, ensuring projects are completed safely, to the required quality standards, within budget and in line with the agreed programme.
You will lead and coordinate project teams, working closely with clients, consultants, design teams, commercial teams, site management and specialist subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Taking full responsibility for the delivery of major mechanical building services packages
- Managing projects from pre-construction through to installation, commissioning and final handover
- Leading and coordinating Mechanical Project Engineers, Site Managers, Supervisors and project delivery teams
- Developing and monitoring project programmes, ensuring key milestones are achieved
- Managing project budgets, forecasts, costs and commercial performance
- Working closely with commercial teams to manage variations, change control and project risks
- Reviewing mechanical designs, drawings, specifications and technical submissions
- Coordinating procurement activities and managing specialist suppliers and subcontractors
- Chairing and attending client, design, progress and coordination meetings
- Identifying and resolving technical, programme and delivery issues
- Monitoring project progress, quality and productivity
- Ensuring mechanical installation works are delivered in accordance with project specifications and quality requirements
- Overseeing commissioning, testing, snagging and final project handover
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
- Ensuring all works are delivered in line with health, safety and environmental requirements

Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Project Manager, MEP Project Manager, Mechanical Contracts Manager or Senior Mechanical Project Engineer
- A proven track record delivering major mechanical building services packages
- Experience working on large-scale construction or technically complex MEP projects
- A strong technical understanding of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, pipework and public health services
- Experience managing project teams, subcontractors and specialist suppliers
- Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing project costs, budgets, variations and forecasts
- Experience managing project programmes and coordinating multiple workstreams
- The ability to review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to project delivery
- Relevant mechanical or building services qualifications would be advantageous
