Mechanical Project Manager – Mission Critical

Location: Oxford, UK – travel across Southern England
Salary: £120,000 + 10% Pension + benefits
Sector: Mission Critical / MEP
Contractor: Specialist MEP Contractor

An established MEP contractor is looking to appoint a Mechanical Project Manager to take responsibility for the delivery of major mission-critical projects across Southern England. Based around Oxford, the role will cover projects across the region, with travel typically ranging from Bristol through to London.

The Role

You will take ownership of mechanical packages from pre-construction through installation, commissioning, and handover, working closely with clients, consultants, site teams, and the wider MEP delivery function.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Full delivery responsibility for mechanical packages on mission-critical projects
  • Managing mechanical subcontractors, site teams, and specialist suppliers
  • Driving programme, quality, safety, and commercial performance
  • Coordinating mechanical works with electrical, CSA, and commissioning teams
  • Reviewing designs, technical submissions, RFIs, and construction information
  • Procurement and management of major mechanical equipment and packages
  • Identifying programme and delivery risks and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Managing client and consultant relationships throughout the project lifecycle
  • Supporting testing, commissioning, and final handover
  • Regular travel to projects across Southern England

The Candidate

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with a strong building-services background.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Mechanical project management experience with an MEP or specialist contractor
  • Experience delivering technically complex, mission-critical projects
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, cooling, ventilation, and associated mechanical systems
  • Experience managing projects from pre-construction through commissioning
  • Strong subcontractor and supply-chain management experience
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder-management skills
  • The ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams across different locations
