About us

Dyson is a global technology company driven by engineering, innovation and a passion for solving problems others ignore. We challenge convention to create market-leading products that are different and better, continuously refining ideas from concept through to mass production. Within our world-class Research, Design and Development (RDD) department, we identify and develop new technologies, working closely with NPI teams and technical specialists to integrate them into future products for global markets. We foster a culture of creativity, collaboration and bold thinking, where individuals are encouraged to challenge ideas, learn from mistakes and pursue better solutions.

About the role

As a Mechanical Research Engineer within the Home Research team, you will be working alongside an innovative & dynamic team, supporting the realisation and growth of our Home categories. As part of our world class research, design and development (RDD) department, you will have the opportunity to work alongside leading technical specialists and highly creative engineers to create industry leading and game-changing products.

Within the Home Research Expansion team, you will be focussed on the discovery and development of new disruptive technologies and products to change the Floorcare market landscape, as well as identifying new technologies to help Dyson move into new adjacent categories. This will involve technical leadership of fundamental investigative and technology/product development type projects, taking concepts from ideation to proof of concept.

As part of the role, you will focus on identifying new technologies, developing both plans and rigs for investigative testing and use data to support product-level decisions and to support the iterative development of sub-systems and full product solutions. To achieve this, you will need to have a strong technical engineering background, excellent attention to detail whilst moving at pace and outstanding focus on quality and process of technical delivery and documentation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
