gap construction are proud to be representing a leading manufacturer and supplier of abrasive shot blasting equipment, blasting media, and surface preparation solutions in their search for a Mechanical Service Engineer.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established business offering a varied field based role, working across the UK and Ireland installing, commissioning, servicing and repairing specialist blasting equipment. Full product training will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for an engineer with strong mechanical skills looking to develop within a niche industry.
Performance Objectives
- Attend customer sites to install, commission, service and repair a range of shot blasting equipment
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical and basic electrical faults, including emergency breakdowns
- Carry out onsite machine inspections and produce detailed service reports
- Complete mechanical fitting, welding and basic fabrication work where required
- Recommend equipment improvements to enhance customer productivity and efficiency
- Build strong relationships with customers while delivering a high standard of service
- Travel throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays and visits to Ireland

Person Specification
- Mechanical engineering or maintenance background
- Basic electrical fault finding knowledge
- Experience with mechanical fitting, welding and fabrication
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Flexible approach to working hours, including overtime and occasional Saturdays
- Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required
What's on Offer
- Hourly rate from £15.00, depending on experience
- Realistic earnings of £45,000 to £60,000 per annum through regular overtime
- 40 hour contract with an average working week of 45 to 55 hours
- Overtime, out of hours travel and Saturday working paid at time and one third
- 22 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Company van and fuel card
- Hotels and meal allowances provided for overnight stays
- Government backed pension scheme
- All tools, PPE and training provided, including FLT, IPAF and Confined Space certifications
