Mechanical Technician
Location: North Oxfordshire / Cotswolds
Salary: £40,000 + travel
Hours: Full time, 5 days per week on site
About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join a specialist engineering team based in North Oxfordshire / the Cotswolds. The position will focus on the manufacture, assembly and development of high quality mechanical components and systems. Working within a hands-on engineering environment, you will use traditional machining and fitting techniques to produce accurate components, complete precision assemblies and support a range of technical projects.
This position would suit an experienced technician or machinist with a strong practical engineering background who is comfortable taking ownership of their work from initial drawings and specifications through to finished assembly.
Key Responsibilities
As Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for:
- Manufacturing components using manual milling machines and lathes
- Producing accurate, high quality work in line with engineering drawings and specifications
- Assembling and fitting precision components and sub assemblies
- Inspecting, measuring and checking components throughout the manufacturing and assembly process
- Carrying out adjustments, modifications and repairs where required
- Identifying and resolving mechanical issues through effective fault finding
- Maintaining appropriate standards of workshop organisation, equipment care and safe working
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider engineering function

Skills & Experience
We are looking for an experienced, practically minded engineer with a strong background in manual machining and mechanical assembly.
The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
- Proven experience operating manual mills and lathes
- Strong mechanical fitting and assembly skills
- Experience working with precision engineered components
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical information
- Confidence using appropriate measuring and inspection equipment
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
- A methodical approach to technical problem solving
- A consistently high standard of workmanship

Previous exposure to CNC machining and CAD/CAM would be advantageous but is not essential. Experience working with engines, engine components or complex mechanical systems would also be particularly relevant.
Development & Package
The role offers a £40,000 basic salary plus travel, alongside the opportunity to continue developing your technical expertise within a specialist engineering environment. Further professional development will be supported, including the opportunity to undertake additional qualifications and industry relevant certifications.
This is a permanent, full time position requiring attendance on site five days per week in North Oxfordshire / the Cotswolds.
