Mechanical Technician
Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join the team.
The successful candidate will have experience in the maintenance, inspection, testing, repair, and preparation of mechanical plant and equipment, and will play a key role in ensuring equipment is maintained to a high standard and is safe, compliant, and fit for mobilisation and deployment.
Key Deliverables
- Service, maintain, test, inspect, and repair mechanical plant and equipment in accordance with company procedures, manufacturer recommendations, and applicable legislation.
- Carry out functional checks and pre-mobilisation inspections to ensure equipment is safe, operational, and fit for purpose.
- Conduct visual inspections of company-owned and third-party equipment, identifying defects, damage, wear, or other issues requiring attention.
- Ensure equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company procedures.
- Identify and report equipment defects, maintenance requirements, and spare part requirements.
- Complete Job Cards, Letters of Conformity (LOC), Certificates of Conformity (COC), PUWER records, HAVS records, and other required documentation.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and certification records using company systems, including ePlantTrack where applicable.
- Ensure all equipment certification is valid, complete, and appropriately attached prior to dispatch.
- Prepare equipment for mobilisation and offshore deployment, ensuring equipment is safe, compliant, and ready for use.
- Liaise with stores personnel regarding replacement parts, spares, and consumables required for maintenance activities.
- Assist with fault finding and the identification of mechanical issues across a range of plant and equipment.
- Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safe systems of work.
- Operate in accordance with company HSEQ procedures, policies, and safety standards at all times.

Key Requirements / Qualifications

- Time-served mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical engineering qualification.
- Previous experience working as a Mechanical Technician, Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Technician, or in a similar mechanical engineering role.
- Experience maintaining, servicing, inspecting, testing, and repairing mechanical plant and equipment.
- Good practical understanding of mechanical systems and associated equipment.
- Good working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
- Ability to fault find, diagnose mechanical issues, and identify appropriate corrective actions.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and manufacturer instructions.
- Good understanding of equipment inspection, maintenance, and certification requirements.
- Awareness of PUWER, LOLER, and other relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Experience completing maintenance records, inspection documentation, certification, and other technical records.
- Good understanding of HSEQ requirements and safe working practices within a workshop or industrial environment.
- Previous experience within the oil and gas, offshore, engineering, industrial services, or similar sector would be advantageous.
- Forklift licence is desirable.
- ATEX training or experience working within hazardous area environments is desirable.
- COSHH and Manual Handling training would be advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks effectively.
