Mechanical Technician Apprentice
Valtris Specialty Chemicals in Eccles, Manchester, is seeking a Mechanical Technician Apprentice to join our Mechanical Maintenance team.
The Mechanical Maintenance team is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving mechanical plant and equipment across the Eccles Site. This 4-year apprenticeship will combine recognised engineering training with practical, hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance.
Working alongside experienced Mechanical Technicians and Engineers, the apprentice will develop the skills and knowledge required to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the site.
This is a full-time, on-site role based at the Eccles Site. The apprentice will gain experience in routine and preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, basic repairs, fault finding, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment used in specialty chemical production.

As skills and experience develop, the apprentice will progressively take on more complex mechanical maintenance activities. The role will also involve working closely with Operations and other Maintenance teams, completing technical training, maintaining accurate records, and following Valtris procedures and health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Level 2 Engineering qualification or equivalent is required.
- A genuine interest in developing a career in mechanical engineering and maintenance.
- An ability and willingness to learn practical mechanical maintenance skills.
- Good basic understanding of mechanical principles and the use of hand tools.
- Ability to follow technical instructions, procedures, and safe systems of work.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake further technical training and develop engineering knowledge throughout the apprenticeship.
- Ability to work on-site in an industrial environment, including standing for extended periods and undertaking practical/manual tasks.

Desirable: Previous practical experience with mechanical equipment, maintenance, engineering workshops, or similar industrial environments.
